Sewage cleanup, Toilet overflow, sewage backup SERVPRO of Limestone and Lawrence Counties

Proper cleanup and remediation of sewer backups are critical aspects of keeping you and your family safe whenever the unexpected occurs. These backups should be considered an emergency because the water that is exposed may contain viruses, bacteria, and other microbes that possess the ability to cause serious illnesses. With that being said, water damage can be classified by three types of contaminated water.

Category 1: "Clean Water"

Category 1 water is from a clean source like a broken water supply line or leaking faucet. If not treated quickly, this water can turn into either a category 2 or 3, depending on the length of time. Also taken into consideration is the temperature and contact with surrounding contaminants. An example includes the water from a clean source like a broken water line.

Category 2: "Gray Water"

Category 2 water is contaminated and can cause serious discomfort and illness. Examples include washing machine overflow; toilet overflow with urine, but no feces; or dishwasher overflow.

Category 3: "Black Water"

Category 3 water is grossly contaminated and can cause severe illnesses or even death if ingested. Examples include flooding from rivers or streams; water from beyond the toilet trap; water from the toilet bowl with feces; or standing water that has begun to support microbial growth.

Any of these categories, if left untreated, has the potential to harm you and your family. Don't take the risk. When a water backup of any kind occurs, please contact SERVPRO of Limestone and Lawrence Counties at (256) 233-4033 or visit our website.
